Het is een populaire drank die wordt gemaakt door Cognac toe te voegen aan fermenterende druiven. Deze versterkte wijn wordt daarna op eiken vaten gerijpt en veelal als aperitief gedronken.De smaak is lichtzoet, zacht en verwarmend. De bitterheid is minimaal. De afdronk is vriendelijk en rond, met een subtiel eikenhout karakter.
